School of Samba
Club where Black people gather for communitarian purposes;
the samba, music of Bantu origin, is the reason that justifies the
association. They are bastions of the Black Culture in the
Southwest of Brazil when they show their “operas” in the Carnival.

Gêge
One of the biggest “mythic nations” of the traditional African religion;
from ancient Dahomey; in Brazil it is diffused in the States of
Maranhão, Pernambuco and Bahia, in the Northeast of the country.
Ganga-Zumba
Original Bantu name; denomination of the first king of Palmares,
and also its spiritual chief (Ganga). He was substituted by Zumbi
after the defection of the “Pacto de Recife” (The Recife’s Pact),
in 1648.
